ORT America iMitzvah Project
ORT America educates hundreds of thousands of students each year, so it is very appropriate that you choose a Teens for Teens iMitzvah project as part of your Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparations. An increasing number of young adults are shifting the focus of their important life cycle event to assisting those who are less fortunate. The funds that you raise will help support World ORT’s programs in Israel and throughout the world.
Through the ORT America Teens for Teens iMitzvah program you will create your own personal webpage where you can describe your project and how you are hoping to support students in ORT schools throughout the world. You can email your friends and family from your iMitzvah online project center and they will be directed back to your webpage to make online donations right to your project!
Additionally, you will receive a special ORT certificate for your Bar/Bat Mitzvah signed by our national president, a Teens for Teens T-shirt, and, if possible, recognition in your local newspapers.

Keep a Student in School by sponsoring Students at Risk
Unfortunately, many students in ORT schools do not have the bus fare to travel to school, are too hungry to learn, or too embarrassed by their clothing—some students even lack shoes!!! These students are at risk for dropping out of school.
For a pledge of $550, or multiples thereof, you can help one or more economically disadvantaged children stay in school by providing assistance to them for a year. This money will help support students in one of 22 countries - including Israel, France, India, Italy, Russia, the former Soviet Union and Argentina by providing him or her with:
- school supplies and textbooks
- hot meals
- transportation vouchers
- uniforms and shoes
Having these necessities will enable students to concentrate on academics so that they will be able to escape poverty. Please do a simcha for your simcha to help someone in need! The average amount of assistance per student per year is $550.
Adopt a Computer!
Can you imagine a life without e-mail, Facebook or Myspace? Does the thought of having to do your homework by hand, as opposed to being able to type it on Microsoft Word, just make you cringe inside? For many ORT students, not having a computer is a reality. To make matters worse, many students live in dangerous areas in Israel -- such as near the Gaza Strip or the Lebanese border. Because of daily bomb threats, the laptops are the only answer to helping students keep up with their studies during security threats.
For a pledge of $1,000, or multiples thereof, you can give a laptop computer, with software, to a school in Israel, or to other ORT schools in countries such as Argentina, Italy and the former Soviet Union. Having a computer will help students continue their studies and become technology savvy. The cost of one computer, with software, for a student is $1,000.
