ORT America supports many of the programs initiated by World ORT to educate students of all ages around the world. Our member focus for 2010 is on taking the successful Kadima Mada program in Israel to more communities, in suporting Jewish Communities across Latin American Campaign and in helping Students at Risk in the CIS and Baltic States and where ever across the ORT Network there are economically disadvantaged students in need. These campaigns vary in scope and size.

ort_israel_math_scoresThe Students at Risk (STARs)  program is a global initiative, helping economically disadvantaged students across the ORT network by providing essential items such as uniforms, books, school supplies, hot meals and transportation vouchers. Israeli students identified for this program are in desperate need of financial support to remain in school. Their families are suffering from unimaginable economic hardship and deprivation. They may come from single parent households, have parents who are unemployed or underemployed. Others are experiencing crisis such as death or serious illness that have disrupted family income.

This project ensures that these students attend school with their basic needs met so they can concentrate on their studies and not feel any different from their peers.Learn more about the program or give now to support Students At Risk

The Latin American Campaign is a major program of projects designed to ensure the continuity of Latin American Jewish communities - large and small - by creating a sense of unity throughout the region and  by meeting the specific needs of each community. The two ORT high schools in Buenos Aires are overcrowded and the students are in desperate need of a third building to accommodate the demand - and we are committed to building that new space. At the same time, we must support smaller Jewish communities, such as those in Montevideo, where ORT operates a four-year university and its students are in need of scholarships, as well as Mexico City, where students work in an ORT-provided new digital media center.

International Science Day in Israel Science Journey Kadima Mada (Science Journey) is one of the must extensive and ambitious programs World ORT has ever undertaken. Now in its third successful year, this multi-year, multi-million dollar series of projects brings state-of-the-art equipment, pedagogical development and material support to needy communities. Working closely with the Ministry of Education and local municipalities, World ORT is raising the standard of science and technology education at over 30 campuses across Israel and has launched many new programs to help Israel build a 21st-century workforce. These include scholarship programs, science and technology education, computer labs, teacher training, and many other programs that will benefit schools where there is a high rate of unemployment and where students live in border areas and the daily threat of rocket attacks.

ORT America is committed to these new programs and we invite you to learn more about Kadima Mada or act now and make a donation to Kadima Mada today.
