According to philosopher and Rabbi Moses Maimonides, there are eight levels of tzedakah. The highest level is giving people the skills to become self-sufficient and the gift of no longer needing charity at all. In tribute to this age-old Jewish perspective on giving, ORT America launched its Diamond Ladder Campaign.
The Diamond Ladder spans eight levels of giving, all characterized by an annual gift of $5,000 or above for a minimum of three years. These eight levels are:
- $250,000+
- $180,000 - $249,999
- $100,000 - $179,999
- $50,000 - $99,999
- $35,000 - $49,999
- $18,000 - $34,999
- $10,000 - $17,999
- $5,000 - $9,999
A Diamond Ladder contributor is awarded a beautiful, custom-designed pendant in the shape of a ladder. A diamond jewel identifies the giving level, with diamonds added for each new level of giving. The full ladder displays eight jewels.
Diamond Ladders may designate their contributions, as well as receive special naming opportunities and recognition in ORT America's Donor Recognition Report. Invitations to special programs and events bring members face-to-face with ORT dignitaries and students, and special international ORT missions with exclusive programming give Diamond Ladders first-hand experience with ORT students and teachers.
